October 2011

Ubushians, Gerard Taylor and Andrew Whittaker, have been accorded a rare priviledge by NetIQ internationally with invitations to both to present separate sessions at Novell Brainshare in Salt Lake City, Utah in October 2011.

Having two of our consultants representing Ubusha at a prestigious international conference is a huge honour and an exciting opportunity for the company as a whole. Ubusha Managing Director, Marius Agenbag, summed up the feeling of all at Ubusha at a company function recently where he proudly congratulated Andrew and Gerard on their achievement and wished them well for their respective sessions at Brainshare.

The invitation to present at Brainshare reinforces and acknowledges Ubusha's leadership role in the field of Access Goverance Assurance in South Africa that Ubusha has achieved and the trust placed in Ubusha by the industry to deliver successfully on a project of immense complexity and scale.

Gerard and Andrew will be presenting essential case studies with real-world relevance and application in the field of access goverance assurance.

with the Roles Base Provisioning Module
, by Andrew Whittaker - Solutions Architect

Andrew Whittaker presents a session entitled "Achieving SOX Compliance with the Roles Base Provisioning Module", a topic with immediate relevance in today's digital world where compliance and security are twin concerns across global business boundaries. Andrew will guide delegates through the challenges Sarbanes-Oxley poses internationally and how Ubusha Technologies has assisted Vodacom, a large multinational telecommunications company,  to not only adapt to, but embrace, SOX,  improving their governance and compliance processes by mapping SOX compliance to Access Request Management (ARM) within organisation. Andrew will decribe the concept of ARM in detail; how it assists companies in workflowing web based access requests, the access approval/revocation process and the attestation of approved/revoked access. Andrew will also show how ARM can be used to improve and align auditing and reporting processes and outputs with regulated requirements. A session not to be missed.

for Linux and Unix with Identity Manager 4
, by Gerard Taylor - Senior Consultant

Gerard Taylor presents a session entitled "Managing Access requests for Linux and Unix with identity Manager 4",  where he provides delegates with a ground breaking, real world, case study that explores user access management implemented for Vodacom, a multinational telecommunications company. The solution limits enterprise server access to named accounts only. These named accounts are approved through Access Request Management where they are provided with sufficient priviledges to perform targeted system admintration roles across multiple platforms - this without the need for administrators to use primary system/root accounts. Gerard also addresses technical aspects of the service and highlights the business and security benefits that have been achieved with this approach. A good session for those interested in a world class managed approach to AAA.
